Setup
Sit or stand tall with your shoulders relaxed. Look straight ahead.
Steps
- Slide your head straight back, as if making a double chin.
- Keep your eyes level. Do not tip your head down.
- Hold for three seconds.
- Let your head return forward slowly.
Breathing
Breathe out as you move. Breathe in as you come back.
Where you feel it
A gentle stretch at the back of your neck, where it meets your head, and work deep in the front of your neck.
Common mistakes
- Tipping the head down instead of sliding it back.
- Pushing hard enough to feel strain.
When to stop
Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
Stop if you feel pain spreading into an arm.
