Setup

Lie on your back on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat. Hold a dumbbell in each hand, upper arms on the floor at about 45 degrees from your body.

Steps

  1. Push the dumbbells up until your arms are straight above your chest.
  2. Lower them slowly until your upper arms touch the floor.
  3. Pause for a moment without relaxing.
  4. Push them back up.

Breathing

Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you push.

Where you feel it

In your chest and the back of your upper arms.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the elbows bang onto the floor.
  • Spreading the elbows straight out to the sides.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
