Kettlebell

Setup

Stand with feet hip-width apart. Hold a kettlebell at your shoulder with the handle in your palm and the bell resting on the back of your forearm.

Steps

  1. Tighten your stomach and buttocks.
  2. Push the kettlebell straight up until your arm is straight.
  3. Turn your palm to face forward at the top.
  4. Lower it slowly back to your shoulder.
  5. Do the same number on the other side.

Breathing

Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you push.

Where you feel it

In your shoulder and the back of your upper arm, and along the side of your trunk.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning away from the weight.
  • Letting the wrist bend back.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
