Needs
Dumbbells or kettlebell

Setup

Stand with feet hip-width apart. Hold a dumbbell at each shoulder.

Steps

  1. Bend your knees a little, keeping your body upright.
  2. Straighten your legs fast and use that push to press the weights overhead.
  3. Lock your arms straight above your head.
  4. Lower the weights to your shoulders.

Breathing

Breathe in before the dip. Breathe out as you press.

Where you feel it

In your shoulders and the back of your upper arms, with help from your legs.

Common mistakes

  • Dipping by bending forward instead of bending the knees.
  • Arching the lower back overhead.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
