Needs
Rack with safety bars, bench

Setup

Set a bar in a rack at about hip height and put a bench in front of it. Lie under the bar with your heels on the bench.

Steps

  1. Tighten your stomach and buttocks so your body is straight.
  2. Pull your chest to the bar.
  3. Lower slowly until your arms are straight.

Breathing

Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you pull.

Where you feel it

Between your shoulder blades and in the sides of your back.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the hips sag.
  • Jerking up with the legs.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
