Setup
Warm up with ten minutes of easy running and a few short, relaxed faster runs. Choose flat ground or a gentle hill.
Steps
- Run fast for the chosen distance. Put down each run as one set.
- Stay relaxed in your face and shoulders.
- Walk back slowly to recover fully.
- Start the next run only when your breathing has settled.
Breathing
Breathe as fast as you need to. Slow down if you cannot catch your breath between efforts.
Where you feel it
A hard, short effort in your legs and lungs.
Common mistakes
- Skipping the warm-up.
- Sprinting while tired from the last run.
- Straining to go faster than relaxed allows.
When to stop
Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
Stop at the first pull in the back of the thigh.
