Step-up

Setup
Stand facing a sturdy step or low box, about knee height or lower. Hold weights at your sides if you want more load.
Steps
- Put one whole foot on the step.
- Push through that foot to stand up on the step.
- Step down slowly with the other foot.
- Do all reps, then change legs.
Breathing
Take a breath and tighten your stomach before each rep. Breathe out as you come up.
Where you feel it
In the front of the thigh and the buttock of the leg on the step.
Common mistakes
- Pushing off with the back foot.
- Using a step so high the hip rises above the knee.
When to stop
Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
