Archer push-up

Setup

Get into a push-up position with your hands twice your shoulder width apart. Turn your fingers slightly out.

Steps

  1. Tighten your stomach and buttocks.
  2. Bend one elbow and lower your chest toward that hand. Keep the other arm straight.
  3. Push back up to the middle.
  4. Lower toward the other hand. Each side counts as one rep.

Breathing

Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you push.

Where you feel it

In the chest and the back of the upper arm on the bending side.

Common mistakes

  • Bending the straight arm, which shares the work.
  • Twisting the hips to reach the floor.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
