Setup

Get into a push-up position with your hands about one and a half times your shoulder width apart. Point your fingers forward or slightly out.

Steps

  1. Tighten your stomach and buttocks.
  2. Lower your chest toward the floor.
  3. Stop when your chest is a fist's height from the floor.
  4. Push back up until your arms are straight.

Breathing

Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you push.

Where you feel it

Mostly in your chest.

Common mistakes

  • Placing the hands so wide that the shoulders hurt.
  • Dropping only the head instead of the whole chest.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.

Stop if the front of the shoulder pinches; bring your hands closer.
