Setup
Get into a push-up position with your hands under your chest, close together. Your thumbs and first fingers can touch.
Steps
- Tighten your stomach and buttocks.
- Lower your chest toward your hands. Keep your elbows close to your body.
- Stop when your chest is just above your hands.
- Push back up until your arms are straight.
Breathing
Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you push.
Where you feel it
In the back of your upper arms, and in your chest.
Common mistakes
- Letting the elbows point out to the sides.
- Sagging at the hips.
When to stop
Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
Stop if your wrists hurt; move your hands a little apart.
