Setup

Kneel with your back to a wall. Put your hands on the floor, shoulder-width apart, about one hand's length from the wall.

Steps

  1. Lift your knees and place one foot on the wall.
  2. Walk your feet up the wall while your hands stay still.
  3. Stop when your body is as straight as feels safe. Your chest faces the wall.
  4. Push the floor away and hold.
  5. Walk your feet down slowly to finish.

Breathing

Breathe slowly and evenly. Do not hold your breath.

Where you feel it

In your shoulders and the back of your upper arms, and in your stomach.

Common mistakes

  • Going higher than you can come down from with control.
  • Letting the lower back arch deeply.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.

Stop if your head feels heavy or your eyes feel pressure. Not advised with high blood pressure or eye problems.
