Setup

Put your feet on a step, bench or sturdy chair. Walk your hands back toward it until your hips are above your shoulders.

Steps

  1. Look back toward your feet.
  2. Bend your elbows and lower the top of your head toward the floor, in front of your hands.
  3. Stop before your head touches.
  4. Push back up until your arms are straight.

Breathing

Breathe in as you lower. Breathe out as you push.

Where you feel it

In your shoulders and the back of your upper arms.

Common mistakes

  • Using a surface that can slide.
  • Letting the elbows flare wide.

When to stop

Stop if you feel sharp pain, pain in a joint, dizziness or numbness.
